The Waterford electorate was created in 1992. Evan Moorhead is only the second member for Waterford. The Waterford electorate was represented by Hon Tom barton from 1992 until the 2006 State Election.
The Waterford electorate includes the suburbs of Beenleigh, Bethania, Edens Landing, Holmview, Loganlea, Meadowbrook, Tanah Merah, Waterford, Waterford West and parts of the suburbs of Kingston, Logan Reserve, Loganholme and Slacks Creek.
The Logan River winds through the Waterford electorate. The Waterford electorate includes the Logan Hospital, the Meadowbrook Campus of Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE (MSIT) Logan TAFE and the Logan Campus of Griffith University as well as six stations on the QR Citytrain Network.
Primary Schools in the electorate are Beenleigh State School, Edens Landing State School, Bethania Lutheran Primary School, St Joseph's of Tobruk Memorial School, Canterbury College, Waterford State School, Waterford West State School and Mabel Park State School. High Schools in the electorate are Beenleigh State High School, Trinity College, Canterbury College, Loganlea State High School and Marsden State High School.
More than 23% (from the 2006 Census) of residents in the Waterford electorate were born overseas, with migrants from more than 34 of the 35 most common Countries of Birth (according to 2006 OESR Qld) now call the Waterford electorate their home.
